Tire changers help technicians mount and dismount tires on rims. Today’s tire changers must be able to accommodate diverse assemblies, including low profile and run flat tires. Most tire changers include foot pedals, mount and demount mechanisms, air pressure systems, rim clamps and bead loosening systems. The technician will loosen the bead from the bottom and the top. Once loose, the tire is removed and replaced with a new one. At this point, air is added to the tire to create a properly seated bead. The operator then inflates the tire to OEM specifications.
